Every reference in the answer links to an actual legal document. Unlike general-purpose AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude), DirectCase has access to extensive collections of legal sources and links directly to the original documents. One click takes you to the original text of the law or judgment.
Every answer includes clickable citations linking to the original text of the law or ruling. You can see the case reference, date, court and the relevant passage. Verifying a single source takes a few seconds. You don't need to trust the system — just click through and read the original.
The database covers court decisions from the national jurisdiction. It also includes case law from the Court of Justice of the EU and the European Court of Human Rights. For each jurisdiction we publish exact document counts and source types, such as court decisions, legislation, the legislative process and regulatory authorities.
We maintain the database on an ongoing basis. New case law and legislative changes are added daily; some sources are updated on a weekly cycle, depending on how frequently their publisher releases them.
Depending on the nature of the task, you can choose from several language models from leading providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini. Model choice is included in the higher-tier plans; the top plan also offers locally hosted open-source models for maximum data confidentiality, though these come with lower output quality. We update the models regularly so you always have access to the latest technology. Through MCP, you can also connect to the most powerful models using your own AI subscription.
ChatGPT doesn't have access to specialist legal databases. It can cite case references or statutory provisions that don't exist, because its answers are drawn from general data, internet articles or discussion forums. DirectCase is AI built specifically for law. It works with verified sources of national and European law. You can verify every citation immediately in the original document.

Yes. A single account can manage an entire team. You purchase the number of licences (seats) you need, invite colleagues by email, and manage their access from one dashboard. You can add or remove members as needed — billing adjusts automatically to the number of seats. Each member has their own login, while you retain central control over the whole team.
User data is never used to train models. Communication is encrypted, and servers are located in the EU. The system is designed with the advocate's duty of professional secrecy in mind.

You'll find all your invoices directly in the app, under the Subscription section, and can download them as a PDF at any time. You can add your company's billing details, including your VAT number (EU VAT), to your account so that invoices are issued in line with EU VAT rules. Where a valid VAT number from another EU country is provided, the reverse-charge mechanism applies.
Each licence is intended for a single person, as set out in our Terms of Use. DirectCase allows a maximum of 2 active logins at the same time, for example on a desktop and a laptop. If you log in on a third device, the oldest session is ended automatically. Sharing login credentials with another person is a breach of the licence agreement.
DirectCase includes daily query limits designed for normal professional use. We understand that legal work sometimes involves intense periods — for example when preparing a case or facing urgent deadlines. At the same time, systematically exceeding normal usage patterns, particularly through account sharing or automated access, is considered a breach of the fair use policy, which forms part of our Terms of Use.

Yes — we also host local models on DirectCase's own servers, in which case no data leaves the EU at all. However, the output quality of these models is typically lower compared with models from providers such as Anthropic, Google and OpenAI.
As standard, we recommend models with your language and jurisdiction in mind. You'll find the recommended model directly in the model selector.
The data anonymisation feature removes standard personal data — such as date of birth, national identification number, phone number, email address and so on — before it is sent to the server. This feature is only available for text input, however. If personal data appears in an attached file, it cannot be removed. Attachments are automatically deleted after 90 days, and this feature cannot be turned off.
